About Dr. Heidi

I am an experienced chemistry tutor with a strong academic background and over 16 years of teaching and tutoring experience across secondary and university levels. I graduated with a First Class degree in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool (UK), (1997) followed by a PhD in Medicinal Organic Chemistry from the University of Bath (2002). My academic training is complemented by postdoctoral research experience at Arizona State University, as well as time spent working in industry, giving me a broad perspective on both academic and applied chemistry.

My experience in industry and research strongly informs my teaching approach, allowing me to connect theoretical concepts to real world applications. I began tutoring chemistry 16 years ago and have since worked with a wide range of students, from those needing support with core concepts to high-achieving students preparing for exams.

For the past 12 years, I have served as an adjunct professor, teaching undergraduate chemistry courses and laboratories. I am currently teaching laboratory classes, where I focus on helping students develop strong experimental technique, data analysis skills, and scientific reasoning. I place particular emphasis on clarity, structure, and confidence-building, adapting my teaching to each student’s learning style and goals.

I am passionate about helping students not only improve their academic performance but also develop a genuine understanding of chemistry. My aim is to make complex topics accessible, engaging, and manageable, enabling students to feel confident and successful in their studies.

Rescheduling policy

Any cancellation or rescheduling of lessons requires 24 hours notice. Any cancellation or rescheduling within 23 hours will be charged a USD10 fee unless the teacher waives the fee for her/his students.
