About the tutor: Dr. Kin Cheung
Dr. Kin Cheung is a rare figure who bridges two worlds: high-stakes global finance and frontier physics research. After a storied three-decade career leading derivatives and equities trading across Asia for firms including Salomon Brothers, Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, and RBS, and later managing a hedge fund, Dr. Cheung has returned to his original passion: scientific discovery.
An MIT prodigy and former NSF Fellow who started his PhD in Nuclear Science and Engineering at age 19, Dr. Cheung now conducts independent research in computational and soft-matter physics. His latest work, “A Perspective on Soft Matter Molecular Simulations: Deformation and Flow at Mesoscopic Timescales,” appeared in the Journal of Applied Physics in February 2025.
Alongside his research, Dr. Cheung shares his multidisciplinary insights as a keynote speaker, including at the 2024–2025 Claremont Finance Conference, and as a guest lecturer at UCLA.
